Robert Quillen (1887–1948) was a humorist who owned a money-losing small newspaper in Fountain Inn, S.C., but did well as a syndicated columnist and freelancing in popular magazines. He also wrote (but didn’t draw) two cartoon strips. He died at 61 — 15 years after publishing his own obituary. The quote is his definition of “Americanism”.
