Doing Good

I make it a point to reach out and do good in the world not because I fear hell or hope for heaven
but because I need neither threats nor rewards to be a good person.

When I first posted this on Facebook last year, some criticized it since they took it as bragging that I “do good” rather than understand that the actual point is to get people to think about why they do good — or why they don’t. I’ll be interested to see your thoughts in the comments.

(And yeah, the other common comment about the free stock photo was that the shadows are wrong. Yeah, I noticed: I’m an old NASA guy. Try to keep with the point, OK?)
